The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan, while a long drive from Northeast Michigan, is helping people from right here in our communities at times when it’s needed the most. When families find themselves needing to be in Grand Rapids to be near a child or other loved one receiving medical care, the Ronald McDonald house provides a place for them to stay, eat, do laundry, and rest while helping to care for their family member. Anyone who has ever had to utilize these services can attest to their importance. Just over $10,000 from a combination of Community Impact and YAC grants from CFNEM and our affiliate foundations, have provided funds specifically to support families from our service area. More →

Thunder Bay Theatre extended its reach into our North Central Michigan Community Foundation affiliate with the help of $3,000 in Youth Advisory Council (YAC) grants from our Crawford, Ogemaw and Oscoda County YACs. TBT’s Educational Tour reached over 600 students from the NCMCF service area, providing educational, professional theatre to students in the schools there. The performances aimed to encourage confidence, teamwork and communication, as well as incorporating English and math skills into the performances. Thank you Thunder Bay Theatre for broadening the arts opportunities in northeast Michigan! More →

A new rain garden in West Branch is bringing together community groups and volunteers in a great way. The garden, which is a planted depression that collects rain runoff from buildings, driveways, lawns, and the like, will feature mostly Michigan native plants. This work-in-progress is sure to be beautiful! Grants from our affiliate foundation, the North Central Michigan Community Foundation, as well as Huron Pines and the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network provided funding for the rain garden.
