Giving Tuesday, always the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, is a global movement that inspires giving locally, nationally, and worldwide. You may be familiar with the Community Foundation’s decade-long role as coordinator of the Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan campaign.
While the Community Foundation is no longer coordinating the large, regional campaign, Giving Tuesday remains a powerful philanthropic movement. To help the nonprofits hold an agency or designated fund at the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (and our affiliates), we will open a special giving page for the two weeks bookending Giving Tuesday each year.
It is our way of saying “thank you” for being a partner with us, and a way to help you build endowments and reserve funds to support your mission.
For the week prior to Giving Tuesday, and for the week following Giving Tuesday, your organization’s fund will be featured on our special giving page with the name of your organization, the name of your fund, and a brief description of how the fund supports your organization’s mission, along your organization’s logo or an image fitting of your organization.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get my organization listed on your Giving Tuesday page?
If your organization does not hold a fund at the Community Foundation, it is not eligible to be listed on our Giving Tuesday page. If you are interested in establishing an agency fund or have a donor who may be interested in starting a fund on your organization's behalf, contact the Community Foundation or visit our Agency Fund page to learn more.
Organizations that do hold an agency or designated fund within CFNEM or any of our three affiliate foundations automatically will have their organization and fund listed on our Giving Tuesday page. Your fund is also available for online giving all year long at Make a Gift : Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan.
Do we have to promote our fund at the Community Foundation on Giving Tuesday?
No. There is no requirement for any nonprofit to specifically promote gifts to your fund at the Community Foundation on Giving Tuesday. Some donors prefer to donate through the Foundation, in which case donations made to your fund here on Giving Tuesday will be an added perk for your organization.
If you would like to promote giving to your fund, direct donors and followers to www.cfnem.org where Giving Tuesday will be highly visible for the two weeks surrounding Giving Tuesday.
What logo and website should we use to promote our fund on Giving Tuesday?

If you have any images of the previous Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan logo (GIVE with Michigan’s lower peninsula as the “v” and a heart), please DO NOT use this logo anymore.
GivingTuesday.org has many resources, including the global Giving Tuesday logo that can be colorized to match your organization’s branding. We recommend using a logo directly from GivingTuesday.org.

To direct donors to your fund on Giving Tuesday use the link of www.cfnem.org where Giving Tuesday will be highly visible. If you would like to provide a direct link to your organization’s fund (available all year long), you may do that as well.
How? Go to Make a Gift : Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan; search for your nonprofit’s fund and click on the fund name; copy the URL that is in your browser for the direct link. If you need assistance, please contact Christine Hitch at chitch@cfnem.org.
How will our nonprofit receive the funds donated on Giving Tuesday?
If your organization’s fund at the Community Foundation is endowed, any gifts donated through the Giving Tuesday page will be endowed as well to help grow your permanent assets (unless the donor specifies otherwise).
For organizations with a non-endowed fund, donations will simply be placed into your regular fund at the Community Foundation.

I want to submit a new logo or image for our organization. How do I do that?
Email any logo revisions to chitch@cfnem.org by November 1st each year to have updates prepared in time for Giving Tuesday.
