A $5,000 Community Impact grant from CFNEM provided the funds necessary to purchase 12 new life rings, rope and protective cases for the Rogers City marina. These and other safety equipment are vital supplies for any marina, and the City struggled with how it could afford to replace the rings before securing this grant. With boating season here, that's good news! More →

Crawford County, and all of northern Michigan, lost a much-loved man when former Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield passed away last month. His legacy will live on in many ways, including through a new fund established at our affiliate foundation, the North Central Michigan Community Foundation. The Sheriff Kirk Alan Wakefield Memorial Scholarship Fund will support Crawford County residents who will attend Kirtland Community College to pursue a career in law enforcement through KCC's Criminal Justice and Kirtland Regional Police Academy programs. The fund was established with $5,000, and the donor will match an additional $5,000 in gifts to the fund from others. The first scholarship will be awarded in 2020. Those interested in donating can give online at https://www.cfnem.org/ncmcf/funds/give.html?fund=1050. More →
