East Tawas, Mich. - The Iosco County Community Foundation (ICCF) has named Nina O’Loughlin, of East Tawas, as the 2025 Iosco County Citizen of the Year. Hannah Moore, of Oscoda, was named 2025 Junior Citizen of the Year. The Citizen of the Year award was created by ICCF to honor adults and youth in Iosco County who go above and beyond by giving of their time, talent and resources to help their community.
Nina O’Loughlin (left) - a remarkable force within the Iosco County community – is known for her unwavering dedication, leadership, and generosity. As a key member of the Iosco County Quota Club Board and chair of its fundraising committee, she has significantly expanded the organization's reach and financial stability, including through the Club’s popular Trivia Night. She was also instrumental in the creation of the new 50+ Who Care program, bringing in substantial community support. Beyond fundraising, she actively organizes and participates in numerous events, from parades to musical park installations, often going the extra mile—literally dressing as a hot dog for the annual sale! She even opens her home to host gatherings for the group.
Nina’s impact extends far beyond the Quota Club. She is a member of Tawas Rotary, leading fundraising events, coordinating scholarships, and organizing community initiatives like Earth Day cleanups. She is also involved through volunteerism and charitable contributions with the Wellness Warriors Community Collective, the Tawas Chamber of Commerce, local festivals, and the local hospital. Despite working 55- to 60-hour weeks, Nina consistently gives her time, resources, and energy to causes she believes in—all while maintaining a strong commitment to her family. She was nominated for the Citizen of the Year award by fellow members of the Iosco County Quota Club.
Hannah Moore (right( was nominated for the Junior Citizen of the Year award by three individuals who witness her leadership, service, and academic excellence at work every day. Her nominators note that her hard work and dedication helps her lead with integrity in all aspects of her community involvement. A senior at Oscoda High School, she will graduate as valedictorian, having maintained a 4.0 grade point average while completing a full schedule of college courses. This spring she will earn both her high school diploma and an associate’s degree from Alpena Community College.
Hannah serves as the student representative on the Oscoda Area Schools Board of Education, making sure the voices of the student population are heard and serving as a liaison between adults and her fellow students. She is the vice president of the National Honor Society at Oscoda High School, where she helps to lead local blood drives. She was chosen by her teammates to captain both the varsity soccer and swim teams. She is also a saxophonist in the school band.
Hannah’s community involvement extends beyond her school community as well. As an active member of Oscoda Baptist Church, she plays instruments for church services and participates in congregational events like food drives. She also serves as the president of the Oscoda Rotary Interact Club, practicing the Club’s motto of “service above self”. In this role, Hannah has spearheaded many initiatives including community events that impact worldwide organizations, and a local flag-raising ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Park at the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base.
On top of all that, she holds a summer job and works as a summer camp counselor.
“The Iosco County Community Foundation is honored to recognize these two incredible individuals for their positive impact both in our community, and, in the lives of others,” says ICCF Board President Cliff Miller. “Iosco County is fortunate to have people like Nina and Hannah, whose efforts set a great example for all of us.”
Nominations for Citizen and Junior Citizen of the Year are submitted by members of the public. Nina O’Loughlin and Hannah Moore were honored at a special event on May 22, 2025, at Tawas Bay Beach Resort surrounded by friends, family, and community members. Nominations for the 2026 Citizen and Junior Citizen of the Year awards will be open in November 2025.
