29 In 2016, CFNEM was the recipient of a $25,000 Heritage Grant from the Michigan Humani es Council. The grant funded a variety of projects that showcased cultural, ethnic and racial heritage throughout northeast Michigan during the 2016 Lake Huron Discovery Tour. Working in partnership with Michigan Culture and Arts Northeast Michigan (MACNE), CFNEM served as the fiscal agent for funding programs with the grant. Community Foundation Grant Snapshots A grant from the Northeast Michigan Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) provided funds to purchase pink robo cs kits for the all- girl Lincoln Elementary School Robo cs Team. These girls won the Excellence Award at the October 2016 Alpena Area VEX IQ Robo cs Tournament - the highest award that can be earned by a team! They finished first in their qualifica on matches and fi h in the Design Award rankings. A $1,500 Community Impact Grant to Huron Pines, Inc. funded the 2016 Frog- Bit Challenge, which gathered 75 students and volunteers to help remove over 10,000 pounds of the invasive species from the Thunder Bay Watershed.
