A better place.
2021 was another year presenting incredible challenges for our communities, our region, and our world. We all want things to get to “a better place”. Those words take on more than just one meaning when reflecting upon the Community Foundation’s work and movement across northeast Michigan.
As a community, we strive to make where we live, work, and play a better place – for ourselves, for visitors, and for future generations. That certainly showed in 2021, as our donors to CFNEM and our Affiliate Foundations made collective gifts of over $7 million, part of which included a record-breaking Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan event. Every new fund, new donor, new grant and new relationship is making our home a better place.
It is also because of these generous donations and the grants they allow us to make, that have put our nonprofits – these critical pieces of the community puzzle – in a better place as they do their important work. They serve our communities in every aspect of life from health services, to access to food, to programs that keep us entertained and engaged. Still pushing through the effects of a global pandemic, the grants awarded in 2021 have put nonprofits across our region and the people they serve in a better place.
The work is not done. We give our sincerest thanks to our donors, grants committees, and nonprofits, and feel complete gratitude for the role we all share in caring for
our communities.
