Like communities across the state, nation and globe, our wonderful corner of Michigan has its own set of unique issues, challenges, and opportunities. To address those issues, and to make the most of our opportunities, our communities rely on the generosity of others who can help support the people, the environment, the schools, nonprofits and programming that make Northeast Michigan a great place to live, work, and play.
At the Community Foundation, we spend every day working to improve the lives of all who reside in and visit Northeast Michigan. As you enjoy the beautiful seasons of our region, we hope you will consider helping us do more for our communities by giving back to where you live or supporting where you summer.
As their names imply, our Community Impact Funds (and there is one covering every county in our service area) are the most impactful and important funds held at the Community Foundation. These funds allow us the unique opportunity and flexibility to meet the needs of our region as they change and evolve year after year. Thirty years ago, these grants were helping nonprofits to purchase their first computers, purchase books for students, and help people stop using tobacco. Today, they are helping nonprofits address economic, physical, and mental health issues caused by a global pandemic, getting tablets into the hands of local students, and create a thriving art community. Right now, over $115,000 is awarded annually. Your donation to a Community Impact Fund, combined with the donations of others and investment income, will increase the amount we can grant each year. These funds promise that on the sunniest and rainiest days of the future, there will be money to make sure Northeast Michigan stays incredible and improves, too.
