Alpena, Mich. - The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM) Board of Trustees elected two new trustees to help lead the Foundation through Board service. Brandon Schroeder, of Lincoln, and Dylan Wallace, of Alpena, began their first terms of service in December 2025.
“I decided to join the CFNEM Board out of a desire to leverage my professional expertise in an effort to aid in the positive contributions that CFNEM is already providing,” says Wallace. “The impact that CFNEM has on our community is vital, and I hope to be able to support those efforts.”
"At the heart of my career and personal passion lies a deep commitment to caring for our coastal Great Lakes resources and enhancing community youth development opportunities,” Schroeder shared. “For nearly two decades living in Alcona County and serving with Michigan State University Extension, I’ve experienced firsthand the positive impact of CFNEM’s investments—through programs like the Youth Advisory Council, local school scholarships, and leadership for initiatives like the Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative and Lake Huron Forever partnerships. I’m proud to serve on the CFNEM Board because the Community Foundation truly shares these values that make a lasting difference for our region."
Andy Stone, of Posen, and Katie Young-Engstrom, of Alpena, both longtime Trustees of CFNEM, completed their nine years of service to the Foundation in December. During their tenure, both Stone and Young-Engstrom served as President of the Board of Directors, as well as on several committees. Their leadership coincided with the Community Foundation and its affiliates awarding more than $28.6 million in grants and scholarships and achieving an impressive $45.5 million increase in assets.
The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan is a charitable organization committed to providing people who care about the future of our area with unique and effective ways of supporting their community now, and for generations to come.
