Cheboygan, Mich. – The Straits Area Community Foundation (SACF) welcomes Linda Rogers of Cheboygan to its Board of Directors.
After moving to the Straits Area upon retiring in 2015, Rogers jumped right into community activities, getting involved in several clubs and organizations.
“I hope my ‘can do’ spirit will assist the Straits Area Community Foundation in promoting the Foundation and spreading the word about our grants and scholarships offered to our local nonprofits and our students,” says Rogers.
Rogers retired from teaching Business Education in Oakland County, and moved to Cheboygan with her husband, Vince Lumetta. Due to Cheboygan Area School’s critical teacher shortage, she taught there an additional three years before retiring again in January 2021. She also currently serves on a Career and Technical Education Advisory board and has helped with Business Professionals of America.
“We are pleased to have Linda join our great team of leaders from across the Straits Area,” says Community Foundation Affiliate Director Christine Hitch. “This Foundation holds over $3.7 million in community assets benefitting Cheboygan County and Mackinaw City. Adding board members with such a passion for the area and appreciation for SACF’s vital role in these communities’ present and future is incredibly important.”
In addition to serving on the SACF Board, Rogers is also involved in the Northland Players, the City of Cheboygan Planning Commission, Straits Area Audubon and local gardening clubs.
Other SACF Board members include Patty Archambo, Beth Cottee, Miranda Fisher, Alexandra Hubbard, Jennifer Lee, Kathleen Paquet and Polly Schneider.
The Straits Area Community Foundation is a charitable organization committed to providing people who care about the future of our area with unique and effective ways of supporting their community now, and for generations to come. Led by a volunteer board of local citizens, the foundation oversees a group of permanently endowed funds from a wide range of donors. Gifts of all sizes from individuals, families, businesses, and agencies are invested in a balanced, well-managed portfolio to build endowments, enabling support for local community nonprofits now and forever. SACF is an affiliate of the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan.
