The North Central Michigan Community Foundation (NCMCF) recently awarded eight new grants totaling $16,912 to local nonprofits for programs and projects benefiting residents of Crawford, Ogemaw, and Oscoda Counties through its annual Community Impact Grant.
The 2026 grants include:
- $4,092 awarded to COOR/Iosco Great Start Collaborative to purchase adapative movement and sensory regulation equipment for “Sensory Path”
projects in Crawford and Oscoda Counties.
- $3,238 awarded to PoWeR! Book Bags to expand their successful Little Learners literacy programs into Crawford and Oscoda Counties.
- $2,500 awarded to Max-Well Therapy Center to provide scholarships for at-risk youth to attend their equine programs free of charge.
- $2,500 awarded to Ogemaw Hills Community of Caring to support access to continuous glucose monitoring systems for diabetic patients.
- $2,500 awarded to Rayola to purchase books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, bringing monthly books to children aged 0 – 5 years.
- $2,082 awarded to Village of Prescott to replace the playground at the village park.
Funding for the NCMCF Community Impact Grants come from the Crawford County Community Endowment Fund, Crawford County Recreation Fund, Ogemaw County Community Endowment Fund, Oscoda County Community Endowment Fund and Monnie Orr Memorial Fund. Funding for some health-related grants also comes from the Crawford, Ogemaw and Oscoda Tobacco Settlement Funds, as well as the Ogemaw County Health Care Initiative Fund and Oscoda County Health Care Initiative Fund.
