ALPENA—The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM) recently awarded a new round of grants recommended by its Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council (NEMYAC), supporting youth projects and programs in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle Counties. The 22 new youth grants totaling $35,596 include:
- Alcona Community Schools - awarded $1,600 for the Alcona Woodshop Router Sled project.
- Alcona Matcats Youth Wrestling - awarded $1,200 for the New Mats project.
- Alcona Youth Baseball and Softball - awarded $1,700 for the Gear for our Softball Catchers project.
- Alpena Childcare & Development Center - awarded $450 for the Safety First! project.
- Alpena Public Schools - awarded $1,308 for the Wildcat Robotics - Volts Squared #5505 project.
- Alpena Public Schools - awarded $1,000 for the Figure Skate Team Uniforms project.
- Ana's Treasures - awarded $2,500 for the Ana's 2025 Backpack Program project.
- Boys and Girls Club of Alpena - awarded $1,000 for the Growth through Service project.
- Chelsea's Closet - awarded $2,500 for the Head to Toe project.
- Friends Together - awarded $2,500 for the Feeding Families Fighting Cancer project.
- Great Lakes Great Responsibility - awarded $2,500 for the Shoreline Stewards: Youth-Driven Beach Cleanup Stations for Great Lakes Health project.
- Harrisville United Methodist Church - awarded $1,200 for the Feeding Alcona County Families project.
- Hillman Community Schools - awarded $1,500 for the Hillman Band Chair and Music Stand Purchase project.
- Lions Club of Michigan Service Foundation - awarded $2,500 for the Hillman High School Pantry project.
- Northeast Michigan Center for Fine Arts (Art in the Loft) - awarded $1,000 for the 2025 Young Artist Exhibit project.
- Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative - awarded $2,500 for the EcoCareers Expo project.
- Posen Consolidated Schools - awarded $2,500 for the New Baseball Field project.
- Presque Isle District Library - awarded $2,500 for the Embryology at the Library project.
- Quirky Quilters Quilt Guild - awarded $442 for the Project Quirky Quilters Quilt Guild project.
- Rogers City Area Seniors - awarded $500 for the Creative Canvas - Youth Painting project.
- The Stone House Studio - awarded $1,196 for the Mural Workshop & Community Mural during Murals on Main Festival project.
- The Sunset Project - awarded $1,500 for the Northeast Michigan Wellness Initiative (NEMWI) Expansion project.
The next opportunities for submitting grant applications to CFNEM are through the Northeast Michigan Women’s Giving Circle and Community Impact Grant with respective grant deadlines of July 1, 2025, and July 15, 2025. Applications are available at cfnem.org.
