The Straits Area Community Foundation (SACF) is now accepting grant applications for the Straits Area Youth Advisory Council (SAYAC) Grant. Nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) designation, schools, churches (for non-religious purposes) and government agencies serving Cheboygan County and/or Mackinaw City are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Straits Area Youth Advisory Council Grants may be used to support programs for youth under the age of 18. SAYAC grants are made from the Straits Area Kellogg Youth Fund, and are determined by the local youth grantmakers serving on the Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council. The application deadline is March 15, 2019.
Any program benefitting, or of particular importance to youth, qualifies for funding from a SAYAC grant. The Youth Advisory Council is particularly interested in programs addressing stress issues, depression, mental health and suicide for their peers and community.
Applications are available at www.sacf.net, where they may be completed online and submitted via email, or printed for completion. If applications are mailed, they must be postmarked by the grant deadline date and sent to the SACF office at P.O. Box 495, Alpena, MI 49707. Applicants may request up to $1,000. Applicants may also call the SACF office for more information at 1-877-354-6881.
The Straits Area Community Foundation has served Cheboygan County and Mackinaw City since 1998, and holds a collection of permanently endowed charitable funds supporting a broad range of nonprofits and causes. SACF works closely with donors to connect them with the causes they care about most, and to ensure those causes are cared for today, tomorrow, and forever. SACF is an affiliate of the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM), which holds combined assets of over $45 million. CFNEM serves as the administrative arm for its affiliate foundations, and is accredited through National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations®.
