The Straits Area Community Foundation (SACF) is now accepting grant applications for its 2026 Community Impact Grant. Nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) designation, schools, churches (for non-religious purposes) and government agencies serving Cheboygan County and/or Mackinaw City are welcome to apply.
SACF Community Impact grants may be used for a wide range of programs supporting residents of the SACF service area. In addition to the regular grant funds, some funding is available specifically for health-related projects and programs in the Straits Area. The application deadline is June 1, 2026.
Applications are available at sacf.net, where they may be completed online through SACF’s grants portal. Applicants may request up to $2,000. Applicants may also call the SACF office for more information at 1-877-354-6881.
Urgent Needs Fund grants through SACF’s lead foundation, Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan, are also available to nonprofits working to support those affected by the recent flooding in Cheboygan and Presque Isle Counties. All applications for Urgent Needs Funds begin with a conversation about the proposed project and funds needed. Nonprofits serving these communities can visit www.sacf.net or call the Community Foundation office for more information.
The Straits Area Community Foundation has served Cheboygan County and Mackinaw City since 1998 and holds a collection of permanently endowed charitable funds supporting a broad range of nonprofits and causes. SACF works closely with donors to connect them with the causes they care about most, and to ensure that those causes are cared for in perpetuity. SACF’s practices are accredited by National Standards for Community Foundations® through its affiliation with the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan.
