Thirty-nine local nonprofits in northeast Michigan are celebrating the success of #GivingTuesdayNEMI, which raised $30,345 from 197 individual donors. #GivingTuesday is a worldwide movement that has continued to grow over the past four years with estimated donations up by 100% from last year.

This is the first year a regional coordinated effort has been hosted by the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM) and its affiliates, the Iosco County Community Foundation, the North Central Michigan Community Foundation and the Straits Area Community Foundation. Every penny donated through #GivngTuesdayNEMI goes directly to the nonprofit designated by the donor. CFNEM provided the technical infrastructure, administration and promotional support at no cost to participating nonprofits.

Representatives for the nonprofits gathered at the CFNEM headquarters in Alpena on Wednesday, December 2 at 10 a.m. to learn the results for their respective organizations. More details will be posted regarding the results as soon as they are available.
