The fifth round of Urgent Needs Fund grants has put an additional $25,000 into the hands of local nonprofits to support basic needs and medical necessities for northeast Michigan residents. These most recent grants bring the total funds awarded since April 2020 to $125,000. Fifth round grants include:
- $4,898 to Atlanta Church of Christ for their food pantry;
- $1,000 to Alcona Community Schools for saniziter and other PPE for staff and students;
- $4,000 to Alpena County 911 for a mobile response unit and PPE;
- $3,500 to Alcona St. Vincent de Paul to fill their food freezers;
- $3,000 to District Health Dept. #4 for its telehealth program;
- $3,050 to F.I.S.H. Inc. Tawas for housing, utility and food assistance;
- $3,450 to Church of the Straits food pantry;
- $1,000 to Kids Coalition Against Hunger for food distribution; and
- $1,102 to Rogers City Area Schools for food carts to help with food distribution activities.
