The North Central Michigan Community Foundation was recently honored with the West Branch Chamber of Commerce’s “Visionary Award”.
“It was a vision since 1998 to connect people who care about the future of this area with the causes closest to their hearts. And what a success it has been,” said Chamber Director Heather Neuhaus upon notifying NCMCF of the award. “It is amazing, all the scholarships and grants awarded to the communities of Ogemaw, Crawford and Oscoda Counties.”
2019 is the fourth year the Visionary Award has been given, recognizing creativity and innovation, as well as leadership in the West Branch Area.
Upon accepting the award at the February 16 Chamber Ball, Community Foundation Executive Director Patrick Heraghty told the crowd the award is fitting because NCMCF is able to do all it does for the communities it serves because of the vision of its donors, and the local leaders who help direct the grants and scholarships made possible by those donors.
“To take a line from one of NCMCF’s own board members, the Community Foundation does some of the most important work people have never heard about,” said Heraghty. “The impact made by our donors and by this organizations will last for the North Central Michigan region generation after generation.”
NCMCF serves Crawford, Ogemaw and Oscoda Counties. Is an affiliate of the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM). CFNEM serves as the administrative arm for its affiliate foundations.
