Iosco County Philanthropist of the Year
The Iosco County Community Foundation (ICCF) needs your help in nominating deserving individuals for the 2018 Iosco County Philanthropist of the Year. If you know of an unsung hero who generously supports local needs and tirelessly gives of their time and talents, please consider forwarding a nomination to ICCF by March 1.
Submitting a nomination is easy. Just go to iccf-online.org to access the nomination form or call 1-877-354-6881. The award will be presented in May to a local resident who has worked for the betterment of Iosco County through volunteerism and personal contribution.
The ICCF 2016 Philanthropist of the Year, Brad Saegesser (fifth from left), was presented with the award in May 2016 at the Camp Inn in Oscoda. Brad's tireless work with Special Olympics Michigan, Area 31 and its Water Warriors fundraiser, the Tawas Elks, and many other organizations and community projects played a large role in being honored as this year's recipient.
The ICCF board created the annual award to honor those who make helping others and strengthening their community an important part of their lives, and also to inspire others to give back to their community as well. 2017 will mark the sixth year that the Philanthropist of the Year will be awarded. Previous recipients are Aileen Elliott (2017 - left), Brad Saegesser (2016), Kelby Ruckle (Whittemore, 2015), Kathy Alward (Hale, 2014), Jane Meyer (Oscoda, 2013) and Dan Stock (Oscoda, 2012). In 2013, ICCF also honored two community champions: David Wentworth of Tawas City and Tara Western of East Tawas.
The honoree, nominated by members of the public, will be someone who has been active in local nonprofit organizations and other efforts to support Iosco County residents. This award is not meant to simply single out someone who makes a large amount of financial contributions. ICCF is looking to honor someone who is generous with their time, talents and financial resources – however large or modest that may be.
The mission of the ICCF is to serve as a catalyst and resource to inspire private giving for the betterment of Iosco County. By encouraging thoughtful and sustainable philanthropic choices, ICCF matches charitable interests with local needs to enhance the community’s quality of life for good, for ever.
