CFNEM is celebration its 40th year of giving, granting and growing for our communities. Since our inception in 1974, this Community Foundation has granted more than $25 million to the communities we serve. With grants for programs benefiting the environment, arts, education, animals, human services, scholarships to local students, and so much more – our donors have helped us to make significant impacts in our communities. Thank you to all our donors who helped us raise $40,000 in donations throughout 2014. Due to your generosity, the Besser Foundation matched the $40,000 in donations with a gift of $20,000. That means an additional $60,000 will be invested to ensure CFNEM can continue to invest in our communities through annual grants for future generations!
Throughout 2014, each month donors who contributed $40 or to a Community Foundation fund have had their name entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift certificate to one of the fine restaurants in either Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency or Presque Isle County. In 2014, CFNEM celebrated its 40th year of service to our communities and set a goal of inspiring 40 people to commit to our communities’ future by becoming members of the Legacy Society.
The Legacy Society is an organization of friends and benefactors of CFNEM and its affiliates who have made plans to leave a planned gift to the Foundation. Too often, such gifts go unrecognized because they come at the end of a donor’s life. The Legacy Society provides a way to recognize and celebrate these donors during their lifetimes. Our goal of 40 new legacy commitments will mean 40 more reasons to celebrate our donors and our future! To request more information on the Legacy Society, please contact Barbara Frantz at firstname.lastname@example.org or (989) 354-6881.
In late June, CFNEM joined the Alpena Regional Medical Center Development Council and the Alpena Community College Foundation in hosting nationally known gift planning expert Pamela Jones Davidson for presentations on "Popular Gift Plans Used by Real People."
