About YAC
The Straits Area Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council (SAYAC) is a group of young people ages 12 to 21 from Cheboygan County and Mackinaw City. Working with adult advisors, these youth work to improve the lives of other children in the community through the allocation of grant money. Using grant funds from the Straits Area Kellogg Youth Fund, SAYAC members support programs and projects benefiting youth in their communities. Through this process, members actively learn about the unique needs of their communities, and how to provide for those needs. They also learn the importance of philanthropy and charitable giving - traits that will affect their lives long after they leave high school.
Through this program, created by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, SAYAC members are empowered to make a real difference.
